Jenny and Tyler

I was privileged to spend part of Jenny's birthday with her, snapping engagement photos of the two of them. We easily fell into conversation, recalling how they met, wedding plans, career goals, and their new slightly naughty puppy. While I've been to the arboretum several times for shoots, I wanted to give them a unique look for their engagement session. I am a major plant lover with a very light green thumb (I've killed some plants in my day), and the arboretum is the perfect place to find endless angles and corners. As we walked around the garden (praying and hoping the grey clouds wouldn't dump rain upon rain on us), I looked for the exotic leaves and lush greenery that you don't often see in Raleigh, and we settled on some prickly cacti and other leafy gems. The dusky light from the cloud cover and dim colors paired with the natural affability of these two was really beautiful. I asked Tyler to take her in her arms like he's done a hundred times, like he'll do a hundred times more, and the natural response to the prompt brought out such real, honest affection.

I can't wait to see these two tie the knot!
