Carla and Anthony
Although our original engagement session spot was taken over by construction (#raleighproblems), Carla and Anthony elected to take pictures at one of their original date spots and a frequent running trail that they share. I actually had never been to the spot, but I was so glad they introduced it to me. Reedy Creek Trailhead in Cary has a little bit of everything—that reedy tall grass and little clusters of dense wood, a rock-lined beach, a lake for a few lone sailboats, a small green hill that affords a view of the the bridge that overlooks it all.
Apart from the beautiful backdrop, Carla and Anthony had such a playful chemistry between them. They were really nervous going into the session, but they quickly became less aware of the camera and more immersed in each other and all the nature around them. They were in their element, and that is why it is so vital you choose a location that fits you as a couple and that holds some sentimentality to you. And when you do choose a location, get into it fully. If you feel like you can’t get your shoes dirty and stomp through the grass, your pictures are going to reveal that distance. Cozy up to your partner, cozy up to your place. I definitely felt like Carla and Anthony were able to do that. Their excitement and eagerness brought out some killer pictures and they look AMAZING.
As we walked back to the car, talking about crazy cats, our shared introversion and aversion to having attention in a public setting, and disdain of Canadian geese, I just felt really thankful for this job. I am not just saying this. I really love getting to know my clients. When you let me be your friend, I guarantee your pictures will be better. It’s just how it works.
Alright, getting off my soap box now. Look at these two. They’re looking soooo good. Can’t wait for the big event!
