It was a little nerve racking for me to have done this shoot. It was not only my first newborn session but I was without Joanna to fall back on for pointers. I wanted to make sure I captured every detail and emotion that day. What you have to understand is Ricky and Bri are my very best friends and I’ve been waiting for the arrival of Judah with a sincere anticipation. I was overjoyed on November 4th when he was born and drove up to see Judah Emmanuel Gallinar as soon as I could. I spent the weekend with them keeping quiet while Judah slept, just staring as he stared back and watching his mom and dad appreciate the responsibility of being parents for the first time.
You see I first met Ricky in the 6th grade. He came into my history class and beatboxed while my teacher free styled. We played basketball, talked a lot of crap, but also envisioned what our lives would look like when we were older. Despite what we imagined, it was something wholly other to see him 14 years later nervously checking on the new noises coming out of this little baby. I could see the intensity with which they loved, something deeper then they previously understood. I heard their dreams and aspirations for their lives together. I admired their dedication to love and raise their baby boy into a man. I hope these pictures can capture the adoration and honest feelings of apprehension as they held that which is most precious to them while seeking to “measure up.” What I know is that Judah will grow in a home, not one of perfection but of sincere effort and love. Enjoy.
